Description

Nether Hall is a house dated 1711, constructed of red brick with a rubble stone plinth. The front features Welsh slate, while the rear is covered in Swithland slate. The roofs have brick ridges and right end stacks, with brick dentilled eaves. The building has three storeys and three windows on each floor, consisting of a mix of 3-light and 2-light horizontal sliding sashes, all with small panes.

On the ground floor, there is a central six-panelled door with an overlight, where the glazing bars create small rectangles. To the right of the door are one-light and two-light windows, and to the left, there is a three-light window. The left end of the house has a two-storey extension featuring a similar three-light sash window above a two-light window, along with a part-glazed door at the front. The right end has another two-storey extension with a three-light window and a projecting lean-to, above which are a 2/2 sash window and a two-light casement window.

There are also two-storey early 19th-century wings that project to the rear, featuring sashes and mid-19th-century bays. Inside, the house has chamfered beams. A tablet near the eaves on the front is inscribed 'I.E.C. 1711', indicating John and Elizabeth Clayton, although a blocked stone mullion window in the cellar suggests that the house may have been rebuilt on earlier foundations.
