Description

The bridge over the River Sence, built in 1751 and widened in the mid-19th century, is a Grade II listed structure commissioned by the Turnpike Trustees. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone, which includes granite and flint, as well as red brick. The bridge features five small rounded arches made of brick resting on stone bases. On the upstream side, there are three stone cutwaters and a stone facing wall. The downstream side, where the bridge was widened, is faced with red brick. The bases of the bridge are cemented at water level, and it is topped with a terracotta coped brick parapet.
