Description

Hungarton war memorial was unveiled on 19 November 1921. It is constructed from Clipsham stone and features a rectangular base that stands on an elevated bank within a hedged enclosure, with two steep stairways leading up to it.

The memorial has a two-tiered base topped by a two-tiered pedestal, shaft, and calvary. The figure of Christ is shown with a crown of thorns and a nimbus. The front face of the memorial reads 'GREATER LOVE/HATH NO MAN/ THAN THIS/ IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WARS/ 1914-1918 AND 1939-1945', followed by the names of five men who lost their lives in World War I and four who lost their lives in World War II.
