Description
The barn and outbuilding at Church Farmhouse are located in Great Stretton and date from the 18th and 19th centuries. The barn, built in the mid-19th century, features red brick construction with a Welsh slate and corrugated iron roof. It has an L-shaped plan, with the barn projecting forward on the right side and its gable facing the front. The barn has one high story, characterized by a central doorway with a cambered lintel and double doors. Above this doorway, there is a round opening to the left and another opening to the right. The left-facing gable has four ventilation diamonds arranged in a cross pattern. There is also a double doorway, an additional door, and more ventilation diamonds at the rear.
The outbuilding, which extends from the right end of the barn and projects to the rear, was built in the early 18th century and mid-19th century. It has one story and a hipped roof on the right side. The wall facing has a plinth, diapered brickwork, and a dentilled band made of moulded brick. There is one window opening with a cambered lintel and a central blocked opening, along with doors at the rear. This structure is included for its group value.
