Description
Charity Farmhouse, now two dwellings, likely began in the late 16th or 17th century, with significant development in the 18th century. The farmhouse is constructed of whitewashed rendered brick with a rubble stone plinth, topped with a Swithland slate roof. The roof features a brick ridge and projecting stacks on the left side. It comprises a main range with a cross wing that projects forward on the left. The upper storey has three two-light casement windows. On the ground floor, a three-light centre-opening casement sits on either side of a central four-panelled door. The cross wing’s facing gable includes a one-light window with a top light and a similar two-light window above, both of the same width. Additional casement windows are located on either end of the building. Local historical records suggest earlier origins for the building.
