Description
The Courtyard is a house that dates partly from the late 18th century and was extended twice in the 19th century. It is built of brick and has hipped roofs made of Swithland slate, with each section roofed separately. The building has two storeys and three main bays. The central part is believed to be the oldest, featuring a projecting wing on the east side. This wing has a 12-light sash window on both the east and north sides, with cambered gauged brick heads, and a moulded brick eaves cornice. To the left, two bays were added around 1860, which include an inner door framed by a reeded architrave and an outer 12-light sash window with a cambered head.
The garden front displays a range of three hipped gables. The two northernmost gables have triple-light sash French windows on the ground floor and 12-light sash windows above. The southern bay, which is a later addition, contains two tall sash windows that illuminate a staircase inside. The south front has three storeys, featuring various casement windows with cambered heads and a central door. There is also one dormer window from the late 19th or early 20th century in the roof, along with gable and axial stacks.
