Description

Cliffe House is a large house dating to circa 1800. It is constructed of brickwork, with a low-pitched hipped slate roof. White painted sill courses and a wooden eaves cornice are prominent features. The side and rear elevations are faced with white brick. The house is of three storeys, with the upper storey being slightly lower in height. It has a three-bay facade; the central bay projects slightly. This central bay features a doorway with an overlight, set within a stone architrave and supported by massive carved stone consoles. A balcony with fine wrought ironwork is positioned above the doorway, with French windows opening onto it. The other windows are sash windows with fine gauged brick heads. The windows to the third storey are lower and have thick wooden architraves.
