Description

This is a dovecote dated 1716, located at Nos. 38 and 40 on Ratcliffe Road in Thrussington. It is constructed of red brick and features moulded brick eaves, with a roof made of Swithland slate. The building has brick coped shouldered gables facing outward and is a high single storey. The front has a door and a 2-light window in the gable. At the rear, there are double doors and a similar 2-light window in the gable, which also displays the date in black bricks. A slightly recessed stucco band runs all around below the eaves. Inside, the dovecote has a double purlin roof and rows of nesting boxes on all four sides.
