Description

This is a late 16th and 17th century cottage situated on Hoby Road in Thrussington. The construction combines timber framing with granite rubble stone, a red brick plinth, and red brick nogging, with a small section of herringbone brick pattern. The roof is slate, with a brick ridge and chimney stacks at the right end. The main facade faces Church Lane.

The front features two storeys with a range of casement windows, including two sets of three-light casements over a single three-light casement, and two three-light horizontal sliding sashes, with a cambered lintel over the window on the right. The left-hand portion of the cottage exhibits roughly two-thirds of its original square-panelled timber framing, with braces in a 5x2 panel layout. The remainder has been rebuilt using brick. The facing gable is one bay wide with a 3x2 panel timber framing design and curving braces. A queen-post truss is visible above the collar, with diagonal braces. Additional timber framing is present in a glazed porch and a lean-to structure on the side of the gable.
