Description
Number 1, which includes the former Wesleyan Chapel, is a house dating from the 18th century and marked with the date 1839. It is constructed of red brick with a granite rubble stone plinth in part and features a hipped Swithland slate roof with brick ridges and stacks at the left end. The building has a projecting brick coped gable on the left, indicating two separate constructions. It has two storeys with four 3/3 sash windows, while two additional windows have been blocked. The glazing bars of the windows are arranged in a narrow, wide, narrow pattern. The windows have painted stucco lintels and sills. There are three similar sash windows below a central 8-panelled door, which has an overlight and a bracketed canopy, accessed by two stone steps. At the right end, there is a two-storey wing that projects to the rear, featuring a Welsh slate roof and 20th-century casements, with a tablet inscribed 'Wesleyan Chapel 1839'.
