Description
A pair of cottages dating from the mid-19th century, located on Burton Street. The cottages are stuccoed and painted cream, with decorative molded stuccoed end stacks and curved end gables. The roof is not visible. They are two storeys high with a four-window facade. A projecting ground floor features horizontal rustication and a cornice, with an urn at the left-hand end (missing from the right). A central projection frames the doorways, which have round-arched heads. The doors feature two narrow lights; the door to No. 1 retains etched glass, and both are topped with fanlights. Ground floor sash windows are tripartite, separated by engaged columns, and have keystones above (the keystone to No. 2 is damaged). A bracketed cornice and blocking course run along the top of the ground floor. The first floor has segment-headed sashes with glazing bars in the outer windows; the inner windows are smaller, round-headed, and incorporate close-set glazing bars with stained glass.
