Description
The cottages at 34 and 36 Sandgate Hill date from circa 1840. They are a pair of stuccoed buildings with hipped slate roofs and stuccoed chimney stacks. Each cottage has two storeys and three windows. The windows are 12-pane sashes with narrow glazing bars and plain architraves; the three windows of No. 34 have horns. Ground-floor windows of No. 36 have wooden jalousies. The door cases feature moulded architraves and cornices supported on console brackets. No. 34 retains an original four-panelled door, while No. 36 has a more modern six-fielded panelled door with a rectangular fanlight above. The buildings have two central cemented stacks and two end cemented stacks per property. A window on the left side elevation of one cottage has vertical glazing bars only and horns. A low stuccoed garden wall with pyramidal piers and iron railings is attached to No. 36.
