Description
No 6 is a house that now serves as offices for a grammar school. It was built around 1910 in the style of C F A Voysey. The building features roughcast walls painted pink and has plain tile roofs, with a roughcast stack at the right-hand end. It is two-storeys high with an attic. The main block runs parallel to the street and includes a taller right-hand gabled cross wing that has a cat-slide roof enclosing a garage. The entrance is located on the left side of this gable and is adorned with a flat semi-circular hood supported by decorative iron brackets. The door is made of planks, featuring long hinges, decorative nail heads, a heart-shaped letterbox panel, and a finger-plate. The windows are irregularly placed, primarily consisting of long horizontal rows of casements with leaded lights, along with a circular window above the door and a tall staircase window to the left of the entrance, which contains "Art Nouveau" stained glass. The exterior also includes raking buttresses and deep wooden eaves. Inside, the staircase hall has 8-panelled doors fitted with brass "Art Nouveau" door furniture. The simple staircase features balusters with heart-shaped cut-outs.
