Description
8 and 9 Chapel Hill are a pair of cottages dating from the early 19th century. The front elevation features channelled stucco on the ground floor and mathematically-tiled cladding on the first floor. The building has a low hipped roof covered with plain tiles and a bracketed eaves cornice. It is two storeys high with a single window front, which includes glazing bar sashes. The entrance to number 8 is on the left, featuring a glazed door set in reveals, framed by a wooden pilastered surround topped with an open triangular pediment.
On the right return front, the ground floor is channelled stucco on the left side and red brick on the right. The first floor is slate-hung. The roof remains plain tiled with a central ridge stack. This side also has two storeys, with an irregular arrangement of windows: three on the first floor and two on the ground floor, plus one window located between the two floors on the right. There are small windows in a semi-basement to the right, and a mixture of casements and glazing bar sashes. Number 9 has a glazed door left of centre, also in a wooden pilastered surround with a triangular pediment.
