Description
The tunnel mouth, stream bed, and draw-off pipe at Cropston Reservoir Water Works were constructed in 1870 by J.B. Everard of Leicester. Made from slate and granite squared stone with stone dressings, these features are located south of the 1870 filter beds. The arched tunnel mouth is set into the dam embankment, which has a wall and parapet above it. The side embankments are coped with crow-stepped detailing and are positioned at right angles. The pipe emerges from the tunnel and rests on stone blocks in the bed of a stone-lined stream that leads away from the tunnel. This complex is situated in a park-like setting with a variety of trees and shrubs.
