Description

This is a terrace of ten single-fronted cottages dating from the early to mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed of red brick with slate roofs. Numbers 45 to 53 each have a ground floor with a simple boarded door and a single iron mullioned window with three lights and a transom. The window frames have holes indicating former shutters, set within chamfered brick jambs and a stone sill. The arrangement of doors and windows is irregular, with paired doors at Numbers 45 and 46, 48 and 49, 50 and 51, and 52 and 53. The first floor has a single iron mullioned window with three lights, matching the ground floor window in design and set within chamfered brick jambs and a stone sill. All windows have moulded brick drip courses with lions' masks at the corners. Number 54 is similar to the others, but includes a curved archway leading to the rear. Above this archway is a window similar to the first-floor windows of the other cottages, but without the drip course.
