Description

This early 19th-century house and shop is located on the High Street in Quorn. It has a shop front added in the early 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick with a Welsh slate roof, hipped to the right with brick ridge details and brick stacks at the right end. The front has two storeys with three sash windows; two have two-over-two panes, and one to the right has eight-over-eight panes. Below, the double shop front features a tiled plinth, a recessed part-glazed door in the centre, fluted Ionic pilasters on either end, an entablature with a dentilled cornice, and a rolled blind. To the centre right is an early 19th-century wooden doorcase with a bracketted canopy, a six-panelled door, and an overlight with diamond-patterned glazing bars; a sash window with eight-over-eight panes is to the right of the doorcase. The building is included on the list for its group value.
