Description
The Bull's Head Hotel, originally a house, dates back to 1742 with 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of red brick and features a Swithland slate roof with a brick stack at the right end. The building has a cornice above the first floor and an eaves cornice. It stands three storeys high and has five sash windows: three over three on the second floor and six over six on the first floor, all with thick glazing bars. The ground floor windows are early 20th-century replacements that include mullions and transoms with large panes. Each window has a painted stone cambered lintel with keystones and an apron. There is a central solid porch added in the 20th century, designed in a similar style, featuring fluted pilasters and an entablature. To the left, there is a 20th-century storey extension that matches the original design, and to the right end, there is a single-storey extension with a hipped roof. A beam in the cellar bears the date 1742.
