Description
No. 2 Church Street is an 18th-century house with a front that was probably rendered in the 19th century. It features whitewashed rendered brick with a granite rubble stone plinth and a moulded and dentilled brick band on the left end. The roof is covered with 20th-century corrugated tiles, with rendered ridges and stacks at the right end. The building has 2 and a half storeys, with a 3-light horizontal sliding sash window and two 8/8 sash windows. The ground floor mirrors this arrangement, with a plank door located to the centre left. The window surrounds are stuccoed to resemble stonework. On the right end, there are two 20th-century 1-light windows on the first floor, along with a 2-light window and a 1-light window in the attic. The first-floor band curves upwards in the centre over a blocked former window. Although this end is now rendered, it originally featured patterned brickwork. The style of the band is very similar to that found on No. 42 Ratcliffe Road in Thrussington.
