Description

This is a house, dated 1770. It is constructed of red brick with a rear wall of granite rubble, featuring a moulded brick eaves cornice and a roof of Swithland slate with red brick end stacks. The house has three storeys and originally had three sash windows on each floor. The upper floor windows are 4/4 pane, while the others are 8/8 pane, each with a gauged brick lintel and a projecting painted keystone. A central doorcase is topped with a dentil-ed pediment and fluted pilasters, leading to a stone step and a 6-panelled door with an overlight containing curved glazing bars. The rear of the house has 2-light and 3-light casement windows, some with leaded lights, a French window, and a 1-storey extension with a hipped roof and side stack. A rainwater hood on the left end is inscribed with the initials 'S.O.E. 1770'.
