Description
No. 87 on Main Street is a cottage dating from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed from granite and slate rubblestone with brick dressings, featuring brick coped gables and a thatched roof with brick end stacks. The right half of the building may be older. The cottage has one and a half stories and includes renewed leaded light casements. There are two eyebrow dormers and two sets of three-light casements with brick surrounds. Below these, there is a two-light casement, a door, a one-light casement (which was once a door), and another two-light casement. The two-light casements have cambered lintels.
On the left end, there is a small two-storey extension with a Swithland slate roof, which has a two-light casement above another two-light casement with a cambered lintel. On the right end, there is a similar one-storey extension featuring a two-light casement with a cambered lintel. Inside, there is a massive inglenook beam and hood, along with ceiling beams and irregular chamfered rafters.
