Description
The Methodist Chapel, built in 1845, features decorative brickwork. It has a wide, flat gable facing the street, consisting of three bays and two storeys, topped with a gable pediment and stone coping. The central entrance is a round arched double doorway with a fanlight, flanked by casement windows with stuccoed flat arched heads. The brickwork creates the appearance of pilaster strips by grouping yellow bricks at intervals within an otherwise chequered pattern. The side elevations include two tall segmental headed windows, along with a lower window on the south side. Above these, there are three blocked windows with flat arched stuccoed heads. At the rear, there is a round arched light with a gauged brick head. A plaque on the front gable wall identifies and dates the chapel.
