Description

This is a house, one of the Countesthorpe Cottage Homes built in 1884 by the Leicester Poor Law Union. The architect was I Baradale. The house is constructed of brick with a plain tiled roof and has a cruciform plan, consisting of a main range of three bays and two storeys. A kitchen wing extends to the rear. The design is in a "Queen Anne" style. The front elevation features irregular window placement, with a mix of 2, 3, 4, and 5-light windows, each with small vertical sash windows and timber mullions. The projecting central bay on the ground floor has a 3-light window with moulded stone mullions and a transom. A brick porch with a tiled roof, supported by a short circular stone pillar, is located on the left side of the central bay. A gabled dormer window rises from the eaves in the right-hand bay. The building has gable stacks.
