Description
The tunnel ventilation shaft, located approximately 20 metres south of number 11 on Frith Drive in Glenfield, was built between 1830 and 1832 for the former Swannington to Leicester railway line, designed by Robert Stephenson. It is constructed from burnt blue and red header brick with a stone coping, which is now completely concealed by creepers. The shaft is tapering and circular, standing about 2 to 3 metres high. Please note that number 11 is not included in this listing.
