Description

The tunnel ventilation shaft located at the rear of number 17 on Kemp Road in Glenfield is a structure associated with the former Swannington to Leicester Railway Line, built between 1830 and 1832. It was designed by Robert Stephenson and is constructed from burnt blue engineering brick with ashlar coping. The shaft is slightly tapering and stands about 3 meters high. Please note that number 17 is not included in this listing.
