Description
The tunnel ventilation shaft, located to the south of number 12 on Amhurst Close in Glenfield, Leicester, was built between 1830 and 1832 as part of the former Swannington to Leicester Railway Line. Designed by Robert Stephenson, the shaft is constructed from burnt blue engineering brick and features ashlar coping. It has a slightly tapering circular shape, standing about 2 meters high, and is topped with a domed iron grill. Number 12 is not included in the listing.
