Description

The tunnel ventilation shaft, located approximately 20 metres behind number 49 on Faire Road, is a Grade II listed structure. Built between 1830 and 1832, it served the former Swannington to Leicester railway line, designed by Robert Stephenson. The shaft is constructed from burnt blue header brick and features a stone coping. It has a tapering circular shape and stands about 1.5 to 2 metres high. Please note that number 49 is not included in this listing.
