Description
The tunnel ventilation shaft located to the east of number 9 on Holmwood Drive is a Grade II listed structure built between 1830 and 1832. It was designed by Robert Stephenson for the former Swannington to Leicester Railway line. The shaft is constructed from burnt blue engineering brick and features ashlar coping. It has a slightly tapering circular shape, standing about 3 metres high, and is topped with a domed iron grill. Number 9 is not included in the listing.
