Description

A railway tunnel ventilation shaft dating from 1832, designed by Robert Stephenson. The shaft is circular and approximately 2.5 metres high, rising without significant taper. It is constructed of red and blue bricks laid in English Bond, with a stone coping at the top. A flat metal grille covers the shaft.
