Description
The tunnel ventilating shaft located adjacent to the front boundary of number 25 on Fairfield Crescent is a Grade II listed structure. Built between 1830 and 1832, this shaft is part of the former Swannington to Leicester railway line, designed by Robert Stephenson. It is constructed from red header brick and features a stone coping that is currently concealed by creepers. The shaft tapers and stands approximately 1.5 metres high. Number 25 is not included in the listing.
