Description
The tunnel ventilation shaft, located to the rear of the plot between numbers 46 and 50, is approximately 20 metres northeast of number 46. This structure dates from 1830 to 1832 and was part of the former Swannington to Leicester railway line, designed by Robert Stephenson. The shaft is made of red and burnt blue header brick with a stone coping and is partly covered by creepers. It has a tapering circular shape and stands about 2 to 3 metres high. Please note that numbers 46 and 50 are not included in this listing.
