Description

A terrace of four cottages, built around 1830, exhibiting the Cottage orne style. The buildings are constructed of red brick with a Welsh slate roof and brick ridge and gable stacks. The east elevation, which faces onto the High Street, is symmetrical and features twin gables over four bays, with decorative bargeboards. The cottages are treated as a matching pair. Each cottage has a central twin porch, set under a shallow gable with fretted bargeboards and a finial. A broad, four-centred chamfered arch opening leads to two four-centred arched doorways, surrounded by chamfered details, and incorporating plank doors. To either side of each doorway are two-light, segment-headed casements with decorative iron glazing bars. Matching windows are situated above the ground-floor openings. The two windows on the right-hand side of number 106 have been replaced with 20th-century casements.
