Description
Homelands is a house, now serving as an old people's home, that dates back to 1818. It is constructed of red brick and features a cement tile roof with a single brick gable stack. The building has a dentil eaves cornice and stands two storeys tall. The east elevation is symmetrical, consisting of three broad bays. At the center, there is an ashlar Tuscan Doric doorcase adorned with a triglyph frieze. The entrance includes a raised and fielded panelled door with a rectangular overlight that has geometric glazing bars, accessed by two steps. On either side of the door, there are later 19th-century sash windows set under wedge brick lintels. The upper storey has three similar windows. Inside, the property features an open string stick baluster staircase with a wreathed handrail, which rises through two storeys in a dogleg design with a curved inner face.
