Description

Stone House is a late 16th-century house and shop, altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings, topped with a plain tile roof, stone coped gables with plain kneelers, and a central stack. The gable end facing the road has a 19th-century shop front and a 19th-century single-bar sash window above, set within a moulded surround. The north elevation features a heavy, plain first-floor band that is interrupted by a change in floor levels, with a single-light and a two-light casement window to the ground floor, and a two-light casement window above. The south elevation, of three bays, has a blocked doorway on the left, followed by two 20th-century casement windows and a doorway with a 20th-century door. There are three glazing bar sash windows above. The interior retains exposed beams. A brick range to the east is not of particular architectural interest.
