Description

Danesgate is a house built in the 18th century and early 19th century, designed in the cottage orne style. It features painted brickwork and a plain tile roof, with a hipped Welsh slate roof at the rear. The house has two stacks in the pitch of the roof, each topped with decorative circular chimneypots, and it stands two storeys high.

The south elevation consists of three bays plus two additional bays. At the centre, there is a gabled porch with decorative bargeboards, featuring a chamfered four-centred arch at the front and plain four-centred arches on the sides. The porch contains a studded and panelled door. On either side of the porch, there are tall canted bay windows topped with a continuous lean-to roof that has decorative valancing. Above the porch, a central cross window is present, featuring a wedge brick lintel. To each side of this window, there are three-light mullioned windows with flat arches and round-arched heads, supported by moulded mullions. Above the central gable, there is a carved wooden frieze at the eaves level. The two bays set back to the right have two glazing bar sashes on each floor. To the west, there is a conservatory with a canted oriel above it, and a similar oriel is located to the east.
