Description
The Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century and extensively rebuilt in the mid-18th century, is located on Main Street in Milton, Repton. It is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof, featuring brick gable stacks and coped gables with plain kneelers. The building has lower hipped roof wings to the north and south and a dentil eaves cornice. It is two storeys high, with the east elevation comprising 1-3-1 bays. The central three-bay section is taller and slightly set back, featuring a central doorway with a 19th-century half-glazed door beneath a wedge brick lintel. This doorway is flanked by glazing bar sashes, also under wedge brick lintels. Above, there are three segmental arched glazing bar sashes, with the center one being narrower. A circular Nottingham and Derby Insurance plaque is positioned above the door. The lower square projecting wings on either side each have a glazing bar sash under a wedge brick lintel on the ground floor and a 2-light casement above. The front of the central section is enclosed by a low sandstone wall topped with iron railings. Inside, the farmhouse features exposed beams at the north end and remnants of an inglenook.
