Description
Two sets of gate piers and walls enclose the churchyard of St Saviour's Church, dating from the early 18th century and 19th century. The walls are constructed from coursed squared sandstone and ashlar, with wrought iron elements. To the east of the church, there is a pair of square ashlar gate piers featuring moulded cornices and ball finials. Between these piers is an ornate wrought iron gate and screen, likely designed by Robert Bakewell, with double gates in the center flanked by pilasters and screens, and three overthrows above. To the north of the church, there is another pair of similar gate piers with 19th-century wrought iron gates between them. These are linked by walls made of roughly squared sandstone, topped with steeply chamfered copings, creating a complete square enclosure.
