Description
The Grange is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and coursed squared sandstone, topped with a plain tile roof featuring brick gable stacks. The building has a double range plan and stands two storeys high. Notable architectural details include plain brick bands at the first and second floors, and a dentil eaves cornice.
The south elevation is symmetrical with three bays and features a central projecting 20th-century brick doorcase that contains a half-glazed door. On either side of the door are 3-light segment-headed casement windows, with two similar windows located above. The north elevation includes a central full-height staircase window, with two small 20th-century windows to the right and a 3-light segment-headed casement to the left, along with two similar 3-light casements above.
The east gable end displays the remains of a large external stack made of sandstone blocks, which is capped with a moulded stringcourse and set off at half height.
