Description
The Old Talbot Inn is a public house dating from the 16th century, with significant alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a cruck timber frame that is encased in rendered brick, topped with a plain tile roof that has a sawtooth eaves band. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays.
On the north elevation, there is a plain doorcase with a bracketed porch roof over a 20th-century door to the west, and a 20th-century two-light window beyond it. To the east of the doorcase, there are one three-light and one two-light 20th-century windows, along with another 20th-century window in a former doorcase and two small 20th-century windows. Above the doorcase, there are two plain sash windows and a central 20th-century window set within a 19th-century surround.
Inside, the inn has two large cruck trusses and the base of a third. The ceilings are low and heavily beamed, and there are large inglenook fireplaces, internal timber partitions on the first floor, and the original winder staircase.
