Description

Top Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century, is a red brick farmhouse with a hipped plain tile roof and two brick ridge stacks. The building has a plain plinth and a moulded eaves cornice. The south elevation is symmetrical, with three bays. A Tuscan Doric porch shelters a panelled front door, which has an elaborate rectangular overlight. Glazing bar sashes flank the door, each under a wedge brick lintel, and three matching sashes are above, the central one narrower. The north elevation features a segment-headed doorway, with a two-light segment-headed casement to the right and a three-light segment-headed casement to the left. Above are two segment-headed, three-light casements. The west elevation, with two bays, has two glazing bar sashes on the ground floor and two blind windows above, one containing a cross window. A low, single-storey range adjoins the building to the east. Inside, a stone flagged staircase hall features an open string stick baluster staircase with carved tread ends and a wreathed handrail.
