Description
White Cottage is a house that has been converted into a pair of cottages, dating from the 17th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from coursed rubble, timber frame, brick, and render, topped with a plain tile roof featuring ridge and gable stacks. The building has painted brick bays at each end, which are adorned with dentil eaves cornices.
The east elevation is two storeys high and consists of four bays. The two central bays are rendered and framed by pilaster strips. There is a central doorway with a flat arch and a plank door, accompanied by a 20th-century gabled wooden porch. This doorway is flanked by flat arched 3-light casement windows. To the left of the central doorway, there is another flat arched doorway with a plank door and a 20th-century gabled wooden porch, with two 2-light casements above it. The brick bay on the left features a single light window on the first floor, while the brick bay on the right has a small square window on the ground floor and a single light window above.
Inside, the cottage retains exposed chamfered beams, stud partitions, and an inglenook fireplace.
