Description
The icehouse located to the southeast of the Four Seasons Vase in Melbourne Hall Gardens is a late 18th-century structure that has undergone some repairs. It is built of brick and features a semi-circular brick facade with a plank door set beneath a stone lintel. Inside, there are steps leading down to a domed well. This icehouse is a later addition to the early 18th-century garden, which was designed by the Royal Gardeners to Queen Anne, London and Wise, for Thomas Coke of Melbourne Hall. The garden is recognized in the Derbyshire Historic Gardens Register at Grade I.
