Description

The Pool House and attached garden railings, now serving as an old people's home, were built in 1838 in a Tudor style, with a 20th-century addition. The front is made of tooled ashlar, while the gable walls are constructed of red brick with stone dressings. The slate roof features pierced bargeboards at the gables, topped with steeple finials, and there are two rear wall stacks with rendered, twin diamond set pots. The building is two storeys high and has three gabled bays.

The central entrance features a moulded four-centred arched doorcase with incised spandrels, a returned hoodmould, and a studded wooden door. On either side of the entrance are 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows with returned hoods. Above the entrance, there is an oriel window supported by moulded brackets, with a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window in the front and similar single lights on the sides, all topped with a moulded cornice and a lapped stone roof. Beneath the gables, the stonework slightly projects over a moulded band, and there are additional 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows with returned hoods. Each gable features a slit window above. The east gable wall has similar windows both above and below, and all windows are fitted with lozenge pattern metal glazing.

The 20th-century addition at the rear is not of interest. The garden railings to the east and north are adorned with elaborate fleur de lys finials, scrolled brackets supporting the main posts, and stone piers at the corners, which have moulded cornices and pyramidal copings.
