Description
The outbuilding to the east of Ash Lane Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farm structure. It is built from coursed coal measures sandstone and features quoins, plain gables, and a roof covered with graduated slates and stone slates. The building has a stepped two-storey range, with the taller northern section consisting of three bays and the lower southern section comprising two bays.
On the east elevation, there are two doorways with massive stone surrounds and heavy lintels. The first floor includes three taking-in doors with planked doors, one of which has been glazed. The building also has some ventilation slits, a central first-floor doorway with a massive surround, and two first-floor windows. Additionally, there is an off-centre doorway on the ground floor, which has been converted into a window, along with one other plain opening.
