Description

The kitchen garden walls located to the southwest of Ogston Hall date from the late 18th century. They are constructed of sandstone rubble with red brick and feature sandstone dressings. The walls form a parallelogram shape and are characterized by high rubble walls with corbelled copings and red brick inner walls.

The east doorcase is made from re-used materials and has quoined sides with a four-centred arched lintel that is inscribed with 'R WM 1659' in inset panels, while 'WT 1771' is scratched on either side. The west face features a depressed arch with a raised keystone and corner voussoirs inscribed with 'TWE 1795'. Additionally, above this on the northern side, there is a re-used 13th-century window with geometric tracery. The northern doorcase has a flush quoined surround and a shouldered lintel with 'TWE 1798' inscribed in inset panels.
