Description

This is a pigeoncote built in 1707, located three miles southwest of Old Forge Cottage in the parish of Stretton. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings and features a pyramidal stone slate roof. The structure is two storeys high, with a square plan and a single bay.

Around the first floor, there is a projecting stone slate ledge. The north elevation includes a raised quoined doorcase with a plank door, and above it, there is a circular stone with a pierced cross. The west and east elevations have blocked openings with a flush surround. On the east side, there is a two-light flush mullion window located above. The south elevation has a similar opening on the ground floor, and above it, there is a quoined surround opening that is now blocked, featuring a stone plaque inscribed 'H T H 1707' with breathers on either side. This pigeoncote is situated in the grounds of the former 17th century house, Ford Hall, which has since been demolished.
