Description
The kitchen garden walls, dating from the early 19th century, are located approximately 170 metres southwest of Gnaton Hall. These walls are constructed of slate rubble and topped with slate coping, enclosing a rectangular garden that features a splayed west side and a rounded corner.
On the north side, there is a reset 16th-century granite cartway with a two-centred arch, which has chamfered and stopped jambs. The south side features a smaller reset 16th-century granite doorway with a four-centred arch, adorned with roll moulding and carved spandrels. Inside, on the north side, there is a 20th-century outbuilding that includes a reset granite doorway with a four-centred arch, also featuring roll moulding and carved spandrels.
The 16th-century doorways have been repurposed from an earlier house that once stood on or near the site. Evidence of this earlier structure includes a large stone set into a nearby 19th-century stable range, which is inscribed with "PER W : A Hele AR: 1596."
