Description

Torr House and Higher Torr Farmhouse are two adjoining houses. Torr House was built in 1792. It is constructed of stuccoed stone rubble, with a slate hipped roof featuring wide eaves. The house has two storeys and three bays, with sash windows incorporating glazing bars and margin lights on the ground floor. The central doorway has a 20th-century pilastered doorcase, topped with an arched hood and fanlight; the inner door retains an original traceried fanlight. Inside, the interior features contemporary moulded plaster cornices and friezes, along with original chimneypieces and a staircase with an elliptical arch in the hall. Higher Torr Farmhouse adjoins Torr House to the east. This farmhouse dates to around the 18th century, and is built of rendered rubble with a slate roof featuring hipped and gabled ends. It comprises two parallel ranges with gables at the east end, and has various sash and casement windows.
