Description
Clattercotes Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, with alterations and extensions from the 18th and 20th centuries. It is built of coursed gritstone rubble with ashlar dressings, quoins, and a slate roof laid to diminishing courses. The west elevation is two storeys high and five bays wide, with the southern bay being an addition. The northern bay has a stacked and altered 5-light window dating from the 17th century; it was originally mullioned, but now has 20th-century 2-light casements. A former doorway, marked by quoins and a massive lintel, sits to the south, now containing a 20th-century 2-light casement. The central three-bay range has a quoined surround to its doorway, flanked by 18th-century two-light windows with flush surrounds, which were originally mullioned and now contain 20th-century casements. A ground-floor window south of the doorway is now a 3-light 20th-century replacement with a flush surround and casements. Above the doorway, a former 18th-century single-light opening has been replaced with a 2-light casement. A line of quoins indicates a former end wall, aligning with the present ridge stack. The fourth bay contains stacked former 2-light flush-mullioned windows, now with 2-light timber casements. All windows feature 20th-century diamond-leaded lights.
