Description

The Methodist Sunday School, built in 1823, is a single-storey structure located in Ridgeway, Eckington. It is constructed from regularly coursed coal measures sandstone and features both intermediate and end wall stacks, topped with a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate. The building has five bays, with an addition on the southwest side. The windows are glazing bar sashes, adorned with intersecting gothic glazing bars and set beneath four-centred arched heads, all framed in flush stone. There are two doorways: the southern entrance is plain with a four-panelled door, while the northern doorway, positioned slightly off-center, has a plank door beneath a four-centred arched head. Above this doorway is an inscribed tablet that reads 'RIDGEWAY/SCHOOL/BUILT/BY/SUBSCRIPTION/A.D,1823'.
